STI Tanay Job fair

As part of my company's marketing strategy, we always make it a point to join our client's job fairs. STI College, one of our biggest clients invited us last March 12, 2015 for their annual Job Fair held at STI College in Tanay, Rizal.

It was a very long road trip for me and my colleague, that took us one hour - no traffic jeepney and tricycle ride from Cainta. Whew!

There was never a dull moment with this girl. So many stories to tell, kalokohan, boylets. HAHA! Thank you for joining me in this adventure. :)

We interviewed student applicants the whole day. I didn't know that being a Human Resources staff for a day was hard. Being the one who interviews the nervous students, being the one questioning, deciding if the applicant is fit for the position they're applying for and being the one turning them down.

I've been working for 8years now and I think I will never master the art of being interviewed. HAHAHA! I will still get nervous, still stutter and still think of a new/best answer on "please tell me something about yourself".

View of their classrooms.

Thank you STI College - Tanay Campus for inviting us on your Job Fair and for the students we interviewed, GOODLUCK!

Our First Car

Before 2015 kicked in, Ali and I planned our goals for the upcoming year. We carefully decided five big goals and promised to take one step at a time in fulfilling it. Of course, prioritizing is the key, a lot of sweat, hard work and determination. Here's our top five:

1. Continue decorating and renovations for our condo. - It is a long term and never ending goal. We love decorating our space and we are continuously  renovating our condo. Of course, we have to have the funds first before doing anything else. Last January, we bought a wall mirror for the place to look big. Mirrors give that effect for small spaces like ours. We paused our condo project for the month of February because we have to save for another goal first. For March, we will build more cabinets for storage.

2. Invest on a business - We wanted to have a franchise and a fitness gym for a start. We actually had all the facts that we need in order to acquire businesses like these. The challenge is, the funds. We are still saving up, but things turned (positively) and we decided to delay our business plan.

3. Travel to a foreign country - I was actually the one responsible for this. Hehe! I want Ali to experience traveling abroad before we enter the baby phase. It will be our last hurray before the mini mes come. Malay mo doon pa mabuo ang panganay? Hahaha! For me, traveling to a foreign country will change and inspire you. I wanted Ali to experience that feeling. He promised me that he will make this dream come true. So hello Japan in November! :)

4. Have a baby! - Please see post HERE

 and lastly...
5. Buy our first car (CHECK!) - We planned to buy a second hand car in the middle of the year before we have a little one, but things turned out positively that God blessed us with a car this early. My parents were also planning to buy a new car (for their future apo. Hehe!) and they decided to sell their old car to us for the price of the down payment of their new ride. We, of course grabbed the opportunity. Though our first plan was to invest on a business first, but Ali gave in because he wanted to give me comfort.

Yehey!!! Now we don't have a problem in commuting, late night parties and of course out of town trips!!!

Yesterday we went to Antipolo Cathedral for the blessing of our car and to give thanks to God for always giving us more than what we need.

Forgive me if I will brag a little but I'm really proud of what we have achieved as a couple. Our wedding, our condo, furnitures, travels and now our own car. Its all the fruit of our hard earned labor, patience, perseverance and inspiring each other to do more. We are not like one of those rich couples who have inherited good fortunes, car and house from their parents but we on the other hand managed everything on our own, with love and support from our beloved parents, of course. Dugo't pawis yun chong!
Super duper special shout out to my darling husband who works ten times than I do to provide for our future family. That's the way he is, always putting my needs before his. Thank you Ali for spoiling me, giving me comfort, protection, security and most importantly unconditional love.

I am just overwhelmed with what God has given us for the past year. Sobrang dami, more than what we prayed for. We owe it all to HIM. Thank you God.

Cafe Piansa

Marikina is the new Maginhawa! You heard it right guys! Go to Marikina and you can explore variety of restaurants. From Italian, Japanese, Korean, Filipino... name it! You can find it in Marikina. I am getting biased here because I lived in Marikina my whole life and even though I don't live there anymore because I got married, my heart still belongs to her. Marikit-na :)

Anyway, we started the first day of March with a family date. Ali and I spent the whole 1st of March with my parents and their new dog. Deedee!
So cute!!! She's a Jack Russel. Excuse my hubby's feet. Haha!
We had breakfast at Mcdonald's Marcos Highway where we always have brekky on Sundays before I got married. Then we went to the wet market for our errands, had lunch at my grand parents' house, then back to our condo to take a bath. (Hahaha! Walang liguan!) Ali had a client meeting that afternoon so I just stayed home and watch Once upon a time. After his client meeting, we went to Macky's for merienda - old school goto with dugo (YUMMERS!), tokwa't baboy and sago't gulaman. We picked up my Mom and brother to hear mass at Our Lady of the Abandoned where we got hitched, and lastly... we had dinner at Cafe Piansa. (ang haba ng intro ko eto lang naman ang gusto kong iblog. Haha!)

So anyway, Cafe Piansa is located at Midtown. Its a small Cafe with a very unique concept. It was actually kinda creepy eating here. Who would want to eat in a cell? Chamber? beside an electric chair? Hahaha! But it was not quite dark as it is in a real prison. It was actually fun! Walls are decorated with loads of information about tortures and punishments. Don't worry, pictures posted are not morbid. Haha! They are interesting and factual. Their bar area was the hall of justice, some of the dining area are in a cell and they have a corner for mugshots. My camera died on me when I was about to take a mugshot pic. BOO!

We ordered Beef Mango salad, Pasta Bolognese, four cheese pizza, penne in red sauce and for my hungry husband lengua.

All in all, it was okay, a hole in a wall and a unique experience for food lovers. Enjoy!

Sense of Fullfilment

"Some days I'm extremely focus on my career development and future goals. Other days, I just want to quit and become a housewife and bake shit"

Saw this on my MUA's Instagram post. WOW. I am so feeling this!!! I know I am so blessed because God gave me a full time job, I'm lucky that I've been accepted to three big companies known in the Philippines. I can provide, I can buy and I have the pleasure of buying things that I want and need because of my job. Work is a blessing. (Please slap that to my face. HARD)

After spending three and a half years in the bank industry, I've been promoted once, got an award for being one of the top sellers of the month in our area and joined a cheering competition which by the way, we won 2nd place. I enjoyed it there. I love what I do, I love the people I worked with and most importantly, I always feel a sense of fullfilment. I have goals, I have so many dreams, I wanted to become a good banker and rise high in the corporate ladder.

Then I got tired, lazy, restless, incontented. Suddenly I became lost and I just don't know what to do with myself anymore. Lucky girl that I am, I got accepted in a Hotel industry where you have to work 6 full days a week, you must have an initiative to do things so you can brought something to the table and a position where you'll going to be stuck for a very veeerrrryyyy looooong time. There will be no promotions (as in none at all) Maybe that's what I'm lacking? That sense of fullfilment? From promotions or any activities that can wake up my lazy ass. I wanted to go back to the bank industry and feel that sense of fullfilment again.

My ever supportive husband told me that nothing comes easy. He sends me articles that can "cure" my discomfort. One article said:

"There are no lucky people in this world. Whatever me, you or they have - appearance, family, money, success, sport, career, children - was achieved by a lot of stress, determination and hellish HARD work."

Which I dearly understand. For now, as I am on the process of seeking a bank related job, I will continue to work (not so hard, bahahaha), will try to still love what I do and enjoy perks of having a free lunch everyday, free internet access and of course getting paid by it. HAHAHA!

Help me?
